JBL Go 4 Saves NT$881 in Japan! Comparing 3 Speakers Found at Japanese Electronics Stores, Audio-Technica's Desktop Speaker Is Only 48% of the Taiwan Price

In this site's electronics tracking list, under the "Headphones, Speakers & Smart Speakers" group, the JBL Go 4, JBL Go 5, and Audio-Technica AT-SP95 are all matched with the same Taiwan models; the entry-level Anker Soundcore Select 4 Go is ¥3,990 ≈ NT$828 in Japan versus NT$990 on Taiwan's momo, also cheaper by NT$162 (16.3%).

This list only represents what this site tracks and can price-compare — it doesn't represent sales figures or audio quality; the three models below are all compared using the same black standalone-unit version.

JBL Go 4: about 190g, IP67, roughly 7 hours of playback, Bluetooth 5.3 — the easiest one to toss in a bag. JBL Go 5: about 230g, IP68, roughly 8 hours, Bluetooth 6.0 — newer specs, but its Taiwan price is actually lower than the Go 4's, so don't assume the newer generation always costs more.

Audio-Technica AT-SP95: a USB-powered wired stereo desktop speaker set, about 300g per side, connects via a 3.5mm audio jack. It's meant for a desk — compared with Bluetooth speakers, the comparison here is price, not portability.

Go 4: US official site US$49.95, Japan converts to about US$50.55, nearly break-even (the US is lower by US$0.60). Go 5: US official site sale price US$39.95, cheaper than Japan's converted US$54.16 by US$14.21 (35.6%). AT-SP95 has no verifiable US price.

US list prices don't include state sales tax, while Japan's are tax-included; promotional prices have an expiration, so check again before checkout.

Confirm the color and standalone-unit version: other colors and bundles on the ranking are priced differently. Warranty depends on where you bought it, and cross-border repairs mean shipping it back yourself; the Go 4 saves NT$881, and after subtracting a 1.5% overseas card fee, that's still about NT$857.

The price gap doesn't account for luggage space or tax refunds; traveler tax-free treatment depends on whether the store offers it, and once you refund the 10% consumption tax from the tax-included price, the gap widens further.
